Tyr Anasazi
He is Tyr Anasazi of Kodiak Pride, out of Victoria by Barbarossa. He is Nietzschean, genetically
engineered for survival, with super-human strength, intelligence and cunning. He will do anything
to survive.
Tyr was raised in relative peace and prosperity on the Kodiak homeworld. His people were the
guardians of the remains of Nietzschean progenitor Drago Musevini and lived under a treaty of
peace and protection, their safety (and the safety of Drago's mummified corpse) ensured by their
allies (which included Orca, Sabra, Jaguar, Mandau, Drago-Kazov, and other Prides). He grew up
surrounded by his brothers and half-brothers, all learning at the feet of their father, Barbarossa
Ansazi, Alpha of the Kodiak Pride.
One day, when he was only ten years old, his world was destroyed. In their greed to possess the
remains of Drago Musevini, the Drago-Kazov betrayed their supposed allies and destroyed all of
Kodiak Pride. The rest of their allies (Orca, Jaguar and the like) abandoned the Kodiak when they
needed them most, leaving the few Kodiak survivors scattered throughout the galaxies. Fleeing
from the Dragans, Tyr saw his mother fall, killed by his now-enemies.
Left on his own, he was captured and enslaved. After finally escaping from years of slavery, he
studied martial arts, weaponry, and battle tactics, honing his natural abilities. He
eventually became a high-priced mercenary, selling his skills to the highest bidder. He
strives to prove his worth so he can be chosen as husband and father by a worthy female, with
the eventual goal to re-create Kodiak Pride with himself as Alpha.
Initally, Tyr signed on with the Andromeda crew thinking he could use
it for his own purposes, and possibly even steal the ship away from Dylan...
He's used the Andromeda and its crew to his own advantage. He used the Maru to help him
steal the remains of Drago Musevini from the Drago-Kazov Pride. He crash-landed on Midden
with amnesia and was nearly destroyed by the Dragans, until Dylan and Beka arrived to provide
armed back up.
He's undergone quite a few changes since boarding the Andromeda. He admits he's begun to
agree somewhat with Dylan's goal for the world (preferring the world to be that shape). He's
chosen to risk his life for the lives of his crewmates on several occasions ("Dance of the Mayflies"
and "Belly of the Beast" among others). He's grown to like and respect his crewmates, appreciating
each for their own skills and talents. In a way, the Andromeda crew has become his surrogate
family -- though you'd never hear him admit that.
He's a weapons expert, excels at hand-to-hand combat, and is even a gourmet cook. He has
extensive knowledge of philosophy and is a more than competent slipstream pilot. "Quite a Renaissance man,"
Beka comments in "Forced Perspective."
He has interesting style, frequently wearing chain mail.
and other garments so
brief they barely qualify as clothes. Ease of movement, perhaps?
